Accessible Information Project
A key action arising from Council’s Disability Access Plan in addressing barriers to access, is to provide Council information and literature in appropriate and accessible ways.
To progress this action, the Disability Access Advisory Committee (DAAC) commissioned a consultant to work with them to develop practical guidelines for providing accessible information products for Council.
In November 2009 Council adopted the guidelines and endorsed the formation of a working group through the DAAC to formulate an action plan for the progressive implementation of key practical actions.
An action arising from these guidelines is the development of a register at Council for community members to indicate they would like to receive their rates newsletter in larger print.
