Clarence Jazz Festival 2018 begins Sunday

The Clarence Jazz Festival will continue its mission in 2018 to seek out amazing musicians, explore new styles, and boldly go where no jazz festival has gone before.

This eight day music festival will be presented in a range of venues from the 18-25 February 2018 that includes the Twilight Series which features a range of free concerts in parks around Clarence; the Jazz Lounge with intimate performances in the Rosny Barn; and the ever popular Big Weekend of free music accompanied by food and wine at the Bellerive Boardwalk.

“The Clarence Jazz Festival is the city’s premier event and delivers a festival full of great music and relaxed atmosphere for people of all ages to enjoy,” said Mayor of Clarence, Alderman Doug Chipman.

“What better way to enjoy our ever improving parklands than with the sweet tones of jazz and a picnic with friends.”

Clarence Jazz also features ongoing unique components including a scholarship program, master class, artist in residence and special guest artists.

This year’s special guest artists are:

The festival’s three guest artists will come together in the Jazz Lounge with Dr Nicholas Haywood and Alfred Jackson for an ensemble experience that will be unforgettable.

The festival will kick off at the Bellerive Beach Park this Sunday 18 February  from 6-8pm with the Seratones (Hammond blues) and Bootleg Gin Sluggers (prohibition era jazz) joined by Festival Ambassador George Washingmachine.

Clarence is the home of jazz in Tasmania and Clarence City Council is proud to support and encourage local talent. 

The Clarence Jazz Festival will be held from 18-25 February 2018 at various times and locations on the Eastern Shore.
