Building and Plumbing
To assist the building trade and the home builder, the Clarence City Council offices are open between 8.30am and 5.15pm for:
- Building approvals and inspections.
- Plumbing approvals and inspections.
- Building and drainage plans.
- Stormwater infiltration and soakage inspections.
- Advice on regulations.

Electronic Lodgement of Building and Plumbing Applications
Clarence City Council has been accepting electronic applications for building, plumbing and special plumbing permits since 14 November 2011.
Your electronic application should be submitted in PDF format and contain all relevant documents including the application forms and TasWater certification (a check list can be found within the building application form for you convenience).
You may provide your application by email to email@example.com or CD, please note we will not accept applications on USB devices.
Council will continue to accept applications in physical format up to an A3 size (Please be aware that Council reserves the right to charge for applications submitted in larger paper sizes in accordance with our fee schedule). Where paper applications are submitted, 1 copy of all of the relevant documents and application forms should be submitted for scanning.
Once the application has been assessed and approved, you will receive your Building and Plumbing permits and endorsed plans by either email or as a CD, please indicate your preference on the application.
Council will not normally provide a stamped hard copy of the approved permit and documents. However, should you require a stamped hardcopy; this may also be arranged but will incur an additional cost.
